FIRST TEAM REAL ESTATE EXCEEDS COMPETITION WITH A       12 % INCREASE IN OC RESIDENTIAL SALES

(December 2006) - According to the November 2006 Top Brokers Report™ by Trendgraphix, not only is First Team Real Estate the leading broker of residential properties by the last 12 months’ total closed sales, but the company  experienced an impressive 12% increase in sales over the competitors during the last five months.  This is a stunning feat, as while so many other real estate companies market share is slipping, First Team continues to expand.

Pledging to “Take the Market by Storm”, First Team Real Estate is making good on their promise by overcoming the challenges posed by 2006’s market shifts. The company has maintained its status as the #1 independent real estate company for the last three years.  Additionally, National Relocation & Real Estate Magazine’s 2005 Power Broker Report ranked First Team number eleven in sales volume out of the top 100 companies nationwide.  First Team’s ranking is up from the number thirteenth spot in the 2004 Power Broker Report.

“You “take the market by storm” by identifying the new problems and filling buyer/seller needs that are not being filled,” said Founder and President Cameron Merage. “Our competitors, for the most part, see only problems, so they become immobilized by fear. Their ability to be creative and solve problems comes to a halt, and so they head for a downward trajectory. We see solutions, are motivated by opportunity to solve problems, become optimistic and our trajectory and productivity heads upward.”

A testament to the company’s confidence, First Team has expanded and/or remodeled over 11 offices in the last year alone. With continued growth in mind, these expansions allow for an increase in square footage, room to accommodate more agents, more private offices for the company’s top associates plus an overall polished look with the addition of upgraded hardware and materials.

Prepared to implement strategic business plans tailored for market changes, such as a decrease in sales, First Team is more efficient in assisting agents in meeting their client’s expectations.  For example, the company uses 800 numbers on advertisements to track how many calls are received, what time a day they come in, the media outlet they were derived from and at which price range. This allows First Team to more efficiently track the effectiveness of the medias they advertise in, ensuring a constant flow of buyers in all price ranges. Another exciting tool, provided exclusively to First Team agents through Assurance Capital, is Market Trends. This exclusive state-of-the-art technology takes the guesswork out of buying, selling and pricing homes by generating daily reports tailored to specific zip codes that include a Market Activity Index, List vs. Sell Price and Active vs. Pending vs. Sold.

“First Team is giving me the opportunity to more than double the exposure of my listings,” said Rodney Sudbeck, an experienced agent that recently joined the First Team Estates office in Newport Beach and who has earned a reputation as one of the most respected and dedicated real estate professionals in his region. “I’m excited to be associated with a “boutique-style company” that empowers its agents with the resources and tools to succeed while constantly expanding to accommodate the dynamics of a changing environment.”

FIRST TEAM VETERAN MARK GOLD ACCEPTS MANAGEMENT POSITION AT THE LAGUNA BEACH BRANCH

(July 2006) - First Team is a rare real estate company that promotes a culture of individuality, creativity and team work.  So when the company’s Laguna Beach agents made it clear that they wanted one of their own to take their office to the next level, First Team not only listened, but promoted long-time Laguna Beach resident and specialist Mark Gold to manager.  “We are thrilled to have someone with Mark’s breadth of knowledge and experience in the Laguna Office,” said First Team Regional Manager Wally Malesh.

Before joining First Team, Gold was involved with commercial property management where he managed a staff of 60 and developed several high rise projects, including one of the first mixed-use high rises in downtown Los Angeles. He then joined the Irvine Company, selling new homes in communities from Tustin Ranch to the upscale Newport Coast community of Rivage.  A highly detailed job, Gold mastered the skills of organization, perseverance and patience, as new home sales required him to deal with the lending arm, construction arm and ensure clients remained in escrow for eight to nine months or more.

When Gold made the transition into residential real estate, he worked for several of First Team’s top competitors.  In fact, while making the smart move to First Team, he was heavily recruited by a major, nationally known real estate company.  “I knew a number of top agents from First Team’s Laguna Beach Office,” said Gold.  “I kept hearing that First Team’s training was far beyond that of any other company in the industry and that they provided a strategic model that ensured productivity and growth.  I wanted to experience it for myself, because image doesn’t sell houses, training does.”

Gold easily and quickly transitioned into the company. A resident of Laguna Beach since 1972, his love for the community and rare understanding of its close-knit real estate culture made him a stand-out agent in the office. “I’ve known Mark for a long time, we worked together at another real estate company and I referred him to First Team,” said Margie Hobbie, a First Team Laguna Beach agent. “The thing I like most about Mark is that he likes everyone.  He is professional, articulate and a fair mediator.  I’ve watched him grow and know he will make an excellent manager.”

Gold actively participates in several office committees and fellow agents began seeking him out for advice.  Gold not only happily obliged, but is known for leaving the office to help his peers problem solve.  “I am very excited to have Mark as our manager, not only is he from Laguna, but he has been very supportive of the community and the agents in the office,” said Steve Parks, a top producer in the Laguna Beach office for over 10 years. “His understanding of the local commitment First Team has to community and his wish to do even more to serve our town (makes his promotion) a very good decision for all of us.”

As the new manager, Mark looks forward to helping agents expand their market influences to additional areas to not only maintain, but increase their  success.  “When the market shifts, agents need to learn to adapt quickly to changes,” says Gold.  “First Team is a hidden resource to coastal agents with in-house training, marketing and internet technology divisions that local offices don’t even come close to matching.”

With the full support of the Laguna Beach agents, close-knit community ties and Gold’s knowledgeable guidance, First Team looks forward to the growth of one of their top coastal offices. To speak with First Team’s Mark Gold, please call (949) 885-7196.

FIRST TEAM REAL ESTATE IS POSITIONED FOR CONTINUED GROWTH

(June 2006) - Scan the newspapers, pick up a magazine, or visit the webpage of a favorite search engine – talk of the real estate market is everywhere these days and for good reason.  The market has shifted, leaving not only buyers and sellers pondering their next step, but also, leaving several nation-wide real estate chains closing offices throughout Southern California.  First Team Real Estate, the number one independent real estate company in California, is taking a more confident approach with plans for expansion and tools designed to combat new market challenges.

A testament to the company’s confidence, First Team has expanded and/or remodeled over 11 offices in the last year alone, including four this year. Additionally, the company has plans to open at least two more mega offices before the end of the year. With continued growth in mind, these expansions allow for an increase in square footage, room to accommodate more agents, more private offices for the company’s top associates plus an overall polished look with the addition of upgraded hardware and materials.

“When faced with market shifts, First Team continues to grow,” says Bill Plattos, First Team Vice President.  “In addition to expanding present offices, growing new markets and keeping money in reserves, we maintain our $4 million annual advertising budget while other companies have dramatically cut their advertising.”

Another exciting tool First Team agents are using to gain a competitive edge and facilitate company growth is called Market Trends. Market Trends software combines and evaluates past and current market indicators so First Team agents can help their clients make smart real estate decisions. This exclusive state-of-the-art technology takes the guesswork out of buying, selling and pricing homes by generating up-to-date reports that include a Market Activity Index, List vs. Sell Price and Active vs. Pending vs. Sold.   Each report can be tailored to a specific zip code or zip code.

“First, we identify the needs and problems, then we develop products and services unique to First Team to handle them,” said First Team Founder and CEO Cameron Merage.  “It isn’t enough that we think a tool or product is great –they need to resonate with the client.”

FIRST TEAM EXPANDS THEIR PALM SPRINGS BRANCH

(March 2006) - There’s no denying the delectable charms of Palm Springs. With year-round sunshine, stunning four-star resorts and spas plus championship golf courses, Palm Springs is an internationally known destination of choice. More than just a vacation destination, however, Palm Springs and its surrounding communities are attracting the attention of hundreds of potential home buyers more then ever. Always in tune with their clients, First Team responded to their needs and are proud to announce the opening of their expanded Palm Springs office.

Spanning over 2,200 square feet with the capacity to hold 40 agents, the expanded office is ideally located in the heart of downtown in the middle of the weekly farmer’s market. “Our agents are very excited about the newly expanded office, said Linda Berg, First Team Executive Vice President. “Several agents from other firms have joined us because of the expansion.”

With consistent media discussion over the real estate market’s next move, First Team is committed to the Palm Springs marketplace. “Palm Springs offers a strong, viable market both now and in the future,” said Berg.  “We want to play a major role in this community’s continued growth.”   Proof of the anticipated growth in Palm Springs and the surrounding communities is evident all around as major corporations, such as Nordstrom, announce plans to build, while the local airport will soon be able to accommodate International flights.

“While other companies are downsizing, First Team’s growth mirrors the growth of the valley,” said Rod Ferguson, Manager of the Palm Springs and Palm Desert branches. “We look forward to strengthening our community bond, as well as with current and potential clients.”

FIRST TEAM ATTRACTS HIGEST NUMBER OF EXPERIENCED AGENTS

(March 2006) - Fred Nassab, Regional Sales Manager for Orange County announced that First Team attracted more productive agents in 2005 than any other Orange County-based real estate firm.  The announcement was made after a comprehensive analysis of migration patterns among producing agents within the Southern California Multiple Listing Service provided by Real Data Strategies, Inc.

In 2005, First Team was the destination firm for 91 experienced agents who chose the company to take their real estate careers to the next level.  Not only did First Team recruit more experienced agents, but those choosing First Team also boasted the highest average sales volume among the Orange County-based firms which recruited 50 or more experienced agents.  Experienced agents choosing First Team brought in a combined total sales volume of more than $317 Million, adding to the firm’s already impressive market share position in Southern California.

“A real estate firm is only as strong as its sales force and we are thrilled to be the company of choice for experienced agents who are looking for ways to generate more business through driving more value to consumers”  said Cameron Merage, President and founder of First Team Real Estate, the most successful independent real estate firm in California.

Many California agents experienced tremendous challenges in trying to compete for business in the 2005 red hot real estate market.  “The entry of thousands of new licensees all hoping to capitalize on the record breaking property values has fueled the intense competition. Agents are finding that they need to provide superior marketing, advertising and innovative technology to service today’s sophisticated consumer. First Team is focused on offering solutions for agents who are looking for ways to gain a competitive edge” said Marta Ybarra, Director of Agent Relations.

Sellers know that increased exposure for their home can mean thousands of dollars more in their pockets at the close of sale.  “No other company offers more exposure for listed properties than First Team Real Estate” said Nassab.  First Team spends over $4 million in local advertising to drive more buyers to our listings.  One of the primary reasons we are an attractive alternative for agents is our incredible company paid advertising.  We are in 50 publications weekly and our advertising reaches 90% of Orange County consumers. Agents who are able to offer this kind of exposure to consumers have a competitive advantage as evidenced by the tremendous market share that we enjoy over every other real estate firm in Orange County” continued Nassab.

First Team invests heavily in state of the art technology.  The First Team web site www.firstteam.com is one of the most visited real estate firm sites in Southern California.  “Our agents must be equipped with the most advanced technology available today in order to service their clients effectively.  Our web site features 70,000 listings throughout Southern California and is updated daily so that consumers get MLS updates when agents do.  In just the last couple of years, the way consumers buy real estate has changed dramatically.  “With over 70% of buyers going to the internet first to find a property, public accessibility to our agents is key to insuring their success” said Ybarra.

First Team agents are equipped with  Market Trends which allows them to see up to the minute trends in the market.  Typically real estate statistics that are reported in the media often trail 30 to 90 days behind the market.   Market Trends shows the daily activity in any given area, showing what just sold and what just closed at the same time showing detailed activity for the last 18 months.  It is proving an invaluable tool in assisting sellers in making important decisions about pricing their homes and helping buyers make informed decisions based on current market prices.  First Team agents are finding that they are better equipped to help clients navigate through the home buying decision.

First Team’s innovative approach to providing the tools and systems that agents need to remain competitive despite market conditions is the main reason agents are flocking to First Team.  First Team has an innovative coaching program designed to take agents to the next level of production through refining their skills.  Agents in this program are increasing their income on average by $100,000 a year by following this program.

About First Team Real Estate

First Team Real Estate (www.FirstTeam.com) is one of the largest privately held real estate companies in the country. As the number one independent in California, the firm realized over $7 billion in sales volume and closed more than 12,000 transactions during the last calendar year. Founded in 1976 with five agents in one office, First Team is now home to nearly 2,000 sales associates and over 300 employees in 35 offices across the region.

FIRST TEAM LAUNCHES NEW COMMERCIAL DIVISION

(Costa Mesa, CA)  - First Team is pioneering a new approach to bridging the gap between residential and commercial real estate services with the new First Team Commercial division, officially debuting in January 2006. The new division will have trained, certified specialists in seven commercial categories including retail, office, industrial, multi-family, hospitality, land acquisition and development, and business opportunity.

In Southern California, there is a distinctive niche to fill as residential customers naturally gravitate toward commercial real estate investments. Long-time residential customers of First Team have made it clear that they would rather stay with First Team for their commercial needs than be referred to a company with whom they are not familiar.

“Our clients really want and need a real estate company that is set up to help them beyond buying and selling residential property,” First Team President and CEO Cameron Merage said. “The next step is to help them build their estates through the acquisition of investment real estate and to help them manage it. First Team has the resources and we have our clients’ trust. All we have to do is make sure we protect that trust.”

First Team has hired Tom Dugan, a 16-year veteran in commercial financing, sales and leasing, as the Director of Commercial Operations for their new commercial division.  “First Team has given me an incredible opportunity, by  not being restrained by the typical corporate mentality of many large brokerage houses, I am in an environment which not only encourages but supports growth, has the most effective training programs in the business, and is financially committed to the success of this new division,” said Dugan.   “Additionally, First Team has gained market share every year since its inception, even in down economic periods.  I am surrounded by an incredible group of very positive, successful people.”

With the new Commercial Division, every branch office of First Team Real Estate now has certified commercial agents on staff. Each office is equipped with the tools commercial agents need for successfully serving their clients. More important, First Team’s residential agents now have access to a vast network for linking clients with First Team agents experienced in the intricacies of commercial transactions and knowledgeable about Southern California’s diverse commercial properties.

Another major advantage First Team has over other residential companies that have attempted to mesh a commercial division within the company, is the fact that First Team is local and independent. No one will be calling the shots from a distance of thousands of miles and slowing things down by days if not months.

“The commercial need is substantial in California, especially for smaller properties of $25 million and under, which are what interest most of our residential clients,” Merage said. “We certainly appreciate that there is a major difference between residential and commercial transactions. Yet I believe our company can position itself to leverage our trusted relationship with clients to provide them with a full service real estate operation.”

First Team Real Estate is one of the largest privately held real estate companies in the country. FIRST TEAM ENSURES CONTINUED REIGN AS THE NUMBER ONE INDEPENDENT IN CALIFORNIA AT THEIR 2006 SYMPOSIUM

(Irvine, Ca, January 10, 2006)  First Team Real Estate, the number one independent in California, began 2006 with unstoppable momentum at their annual, company-wide 2006 Symposium on January 10 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.   More than 1,500 First Team agents from all over Southern California attended the event to preview the company’s new tools, strategically tailored to combat current market challenges and to propel every agent into exceeding their profit goals for 2006.

First Team agents were set at the forefront of the industry’s hottest trends and possible 2006 obstacles by a panel of real estate and industry professionals.  One of the most important topics covered was how the Internet has completely reshaped global business.  As the most profound technological innovation to affect the real estate business, the Internet Revolution has dramatically changed how people find and buy homes.  “We want to be ahead of the competition by making the rules of the game and getting the customers to come to us,” said Cameron Merage, First Team founder and president.  “Integrating technology into your business and using it effectively will help improve your relationship with the Internet customer, but it’ won’t replace you, it will just make you more effective and efficient.”

To ensure First Team agents are effectively using the Internet to increase their business, the company introduced the new eAgent program. The goal of this program is to provide the necessary training all agents need to be able to effectively handle the Internet-empowered customer.  “Even though we talk about technology, in reality it’s just a means of enhancing communication, customer care and customer interactions,” said Bob Watson, N.A.R. ePro® expert and San Clemente office manager. “eAgent is another industry first from a company known for innovation.”

Other exciting announcements came from many First Team divisions.  First Team’s Marketing and Advertising department announced their new customer-service oriented program which will provide in-demand information, whether it be how to purchase a post card for the best price, how to enhance a listing presentation, or how to advertise a client’s property in the newspaper, with one simple phone call.  Bridging the gap between residential and commercial real estate services, the new First Team Commercial division made its debut, which will have trained, certified specialists in seven commercial categories including retail, office, industrial, multi-family, hospitality, land acquisition and development, and business opportunity.  Additionally, First Team’s First in our Hearts Foundation begins another successful year with exciting new opportunities for agents to help those in need.   Statistics show that 8 to 10 Americans feel companies have a responsibility to their communities and working to make life better in the areas we serve is an important part of First Team’s ongoing traditions.

The 2006 Symposium also included informative information  from Allan Dalton, President of Realtor.com,  with an insider’s look at effective real estate marketing, Gary Watts, an Economist, with a 2006 economic forecast for Southern California and Bob Davies, Inspirational Coach,  who provided knowledge and techniques for thriving in today’s changing market.

The all-day event included breakfast and lunch for every agent, plus a lobby full of booths where agents could ask questions and receive more information on how to implement the exciting new tools First Team is offering to ensure another unforgettable year.

FIRST TEAM SHOWS SUPPORT FOR TROOPS OVERSEAS

(January 2006) - First Team Becker & Becker proudly showed their support for the service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan at this year’s Red, White & Blue Polo & Balloon Festival. Sponsored by Ford Trucks, this exciting three day event was held January 6-8 in Indio and included events such as a “Meet the Pilots Dinner”, polo matches, balloon glows and a “Battle of the Chef’s” Dinner.  With the help of the Armed Services YMCA 29 Palms, the weekend’s donations were distributed to programs such as “Operation Enduring Families” and “Wounded Comrades Family”.

First Team Becker & Becker’s donation allowed the company to participate in the vendor village.  Decorated with blue and gold balloons, the First Team Becker & Becker booth’s inviting feel, not to mention the chilled water bottles with their company logo, encouraged over 1,000 people to stop by.  First Team Becker & Becker agents handed out HomeBuyer’s Magazines, one of the company’s most popular marketing tools that distributes to over 250,000 potential home buyers four times a year.   Also, the agents hosted a contest, gladly giving away two iPods, a digital camera and a dinner for two to some very delighted winners.

“First Team Becker & Becker is committed to supporting the communities we serve,” said Linda Berg, First Team Vice President. “Participating in this year’s Red, White & Blue Festival, a great event that our agent’s were proud to be apart of, is one more example of that”

2004 Was a Breakout Year for First Team

(April 2005) Powerhouse First Team Real Estate dramatically furthered its reputation as the company to watch last year. California’s #1 independent handled over 12,000 transactions in 2004, for a closed sales volume of over $6.6 billion. One of the fastest-growing areas of First Team’s business is the $1 million-plus luxury market, which increased 124 percent last year compared to 2003.In April of last year, National Relocation and Real Estate officially ranked First Team among the top fifteen largest real estate firms in the nation.

The company that began in 1976 with five agents and one office ended 2004 with nearly 1,800 sales associates, over 300 employees, and 33 branch offices throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties, the Inland Empire and the desert.

To accommodate its vigorous growth, First Team opened a string of offices in 2004. They included the company’s first six locations in the Coachella Valley as well as new offices in Naples, Belmont Shore, Riverside and Laguna Niguel. Several existing locations were newly expanded and/or remodeled.

A different approach to real estate

The key to First Team’s success is its independence, says Founding President and CEO Cameron Merage. “We don’t operate under the constraints of a national conglomerate,” says Merage. “That gives us the freedom be more innovative and responsive to both our clients and our agents.”

First Team has used that freedom to do things in a different way. Merage believes in the power of advertising, and his company invests in a multimillion dollar marketing program that generates ongoing exposure in nearly forty local, regional and national publications. Known for its cutting-edge technology, the company not only tracks the performance of every ad it runs, but automatically captures caller information on every inquiry its ads generate. The technique is clearly working; First Team fields up to 6,000 documented buyer calls a month.

More buyers are attracted through FirstTeam.com, which hosts over 15,000 unique visitors a week. With such a significant number of visitors, it was no surprise that one of the firm’s most popular new online features, Sneak Preview™, became an instant success with potential buyers and sellers. This innovative service offers buyers and sellers competitive advantages in a tight market by giving them a “sneak peek” at just-listed houses before they appear on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

First Team believes so strongly in what technology can do for its agents and clients that it employs a full-time IT staff to support its systems and develop new ones. All 33 offices have wireless high-speed access and state-of-the-art technology Resource Rooms. There’s also a private intranet packed with special features designed to help agents match buyers and properties. The company backs its technology with toll-free tech support seven days a week.

Last year, the IT team laid the groundwork for the recent launch of First Team Live, a video conferencing program agents can access from any computer via the company’s private intranet. Sessions will cover a wide range of topics, from keeping abreast of shifting market conditions to honing negotiation techniques. Weekly video conferencing interviews will allow top agents to share their expertise with the entire team.

Growing and Giving Back

In 2004, First Team announced the establishment of the First in Our Hearts Foundation, a companywide philanthropy created to focus and maximize the charitable efforts of First Team’s growing network of sales associates, employees and offices.

“Our people have believed in giving back to the communities they serve since we opened our doors in 1976,” says Merage. “The Foundation offers us a way to expand and enhance our charitable efforts to parallel our growth.”

The Foundation will be administered by a Strategic Planning Council made up of representatives throughout the company. Any employee may nominate a cause to support. Each year, the Council will review all submissions and designate up to six beneficiaries for the year. For 2005, they are the Make A Wish Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County, the American Heart Association, Inland Temporary Homes, and the Alzheimer’s Association of the Coachella Valley.

Last fall, First Team also announced a two-year partnership with Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute, Orange County’s highest-volume, highest-rated cardiovascular program and one of the preeminent cardiovascular centers on the West Coast. In September, the company kicked off the collaboration by hosting the inaugural First Team Golf Classic at the exclusive Shady Canyon Golf Club in Irvine. All proceeds benefited the Institute.

This May, the company will present the inaugural First Team Real Estate Invitational Regatta, which will bring together top-caliber yachts, including maxZ86 racers, offshore racers over 50 feet in length, and Transpac 52 class boats to race off the Newport Beach coast. Festivities will include a number of social functions at some of Newport Beach’s finest venues. Proceeds from the event, co-managed by the Newport Harbor (NHYC) and Balboa (BYC) Yacht Clubs, will also benefit Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute.

As Merage and his associates celebrate a landmark year, they’re also looking well beyond the current one. For this team, perfecting the art of real estate representation is a full-time job, with many more milestones to come.

First Team Announces 2005 Beneficiaries for Its New First in Our Hearts Foundation

(January 31, 2005)The nonprofit First in our Hearts Foundation, formed late last year by First Team Real Estate to maximize the charitable efforts of its agents across Southern California, has chosen six organizations to support during its inaugural year. They are:

  • The Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has enriched lives since 1980 by granting more than 127,000 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs in Orange County, whose newest initiative provides an array of enrichment opportunities to children under five and their caregivers?
  • The American Heart Association, committed to reducing coronary heart disease and stroke, with special emphasis this year on educating women on heart disease risk factors.
  • Inland Temporary Homes, seeking to end the cycle of family homelessness in the Inland Empire by providing temporary housing, case management, and ongoing support for families with no place to live.
  • The Alzheimer’s Association of the Coachella Valley, which offers a broad range of programs and services for people with Alzheimer’s disease, their families and caregivers.
  • Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute, Orange County’s highest-volume, highest-rated cardiovascular programs and one of the preeminent cardiovascular centers on the West Coast.

The First in our Hearts Foundation is administered by a Strategic Planning Council made up of representatives throughout the company and its offices.  First Team agents and employees may nominate a cause to support in the year ahead. The Council reviews all submissions annually, and selects beneficiaries for the year. “This year’s organizations were chosen because they address a wide range of needs and mirror our company’s high standards and values,” said Heidi Hockenberry, Senior V.P. of Marketing for First Team Real Estate. “All of us are proud to partner with them in making life better in the communities where we live and work.”

In 2004, First Team also embarked on a two-year partnership with Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute, a designated Center of Excellence at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The award-winning Institute is Orange County’s highest-volume, highest-rated cardiovascular program, and one of the preeminent cardiovascular centers on the West Coast. With all proceeds benefiting the Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute, First Team Real Estate will host an Invitational Regatta, which will bring together world-class yachts and crews for a three-day sailing competition off the Newport Beach coast from May 19 through the 22. Building on a Legacy of Community Involvement

According to First Team founding President and Chief Executive Officer Cameron Merage, the formation of the First in our Hearts Foundation was inspired by the individual charitable efforts of the firm’s sales associates and employees. “Giving back to the communities we serve has been an intrinsic value for us since First Team opened its doors in 1976,” he says. “Given the success we’ve earned in representing our clients, it was natural for us to want to expand and enhance our charitable efforts as well. Our people have always actively looked for ways to get involved in their local neighborhoods. We wanted to find a way to support them in making an even more significant difference, and the Foundation was the result of that. We’re looking forward to seeing what our combined efforts will accomplish.”

Seasoned Pro Gets a Pleasant Surprise

(January 11, 2005) — At his previous company, a national real estate firm, Scott MacDonald spearheaded the development of four Orange County branch offices, leading all to record sales. After more than 20 years in Orange County Real Estate as a broker and a top office manager, MacDonald was convinced all real estate companies were pretty much alike. Then he left his mega-firm and joined First Team Real Estate to open and manage the company’s new Laguna Niguel office this spring. “Even though it’s competing with conglomerates, First Team sells far more homes in Orange County than anyone else, and has for years. And they continue to pull ahead.”

An Independent Spirit “Of course I knew of First Team, but until you experience it from the inside, you just don’t realize how differently it operates,” says MacDonald. He says he finds something new to be impressed with every day at this growing, entrepreneurial company. “(President and Founder) Cameron Merage isn’t in this business for money,” says MacDonald. “He really cares about creating a great company, one that brings value to both customers and agents.” MacDonald discovered that for such a successful regional business, First Team is a remarkably happy group. “Cam cares about doing the right thing,” he says. “Unlike firms owned by corporate conglomerates, he’s not under anybody’s thumb. That gives him the freedom to reinvest in his company in an extraordinary way because that’s his passion. Cam’s focus is on the people he’s grown over the years, and on finding new ways to help them give their clients even better service.” Publicly held companies don’t have this luxury, notes MacDonald. “They have to please their stockholders, so their main goal is to squeeze out short-term profit wherever they can, often with no view to the long-term effect on the enterprise. Real estate is a complex business with many costs that Wall Street will never understand. To them, these big real estate firms are just small pieces of much bigger conglomerates.”

Moving Up Fast Merage founded First Team in 1976 with four sales professionals and one Huntington Beach office. Today, the company has more than 1,700 agents in 32 offices throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley. With a sales volume of $5.4 billion in 2003, it’s statistically the number one home seller in Orange County and the number one independent in the state. From the outset, Merage consistently spent money to develop cutting-edge systems, marketing strategies, and training and support programs that would help his agents outperform their outsized competition when it came down to serving their clientele better. Today, First Team advertises more heavily than all of its competitors. MacDonald was surprised to learn that every call generated by the company’s print and online marketing is diligently tracked — in order to pinpoint exactly what approaches get the most powerful results. Once the answer is in, money is no object. For example, unlike other real estate companies, First Team advertises heavily on Sundays, the most expensive positions to buy.

Smart systems, smart people Mac Donald makes other discoveries daily. “Technologically, First Team is downright incomparable,” he says. “They work relentlessly to perfect new ways of leveraging technology to benefit their professionals and clients. Their equipment is constantly upgraded to state-of-the-art status, and they back it up with a tech support team that’s on deck seven days a week. These people can even take control of your computer and fix your problem remotely. IT on that scale is just too expensive for big companies to offer.” He’s also impressed by First Team’s Unique Value Proposition (UVP) Business Coaching — a comprehensive training program so effective, it’s been shown to boost agent incomes an average of 85% in one year. “First Team’s innovative approach to real estate has created a culture of unparalleled service, to its agents and clients.” says MacDonald.

New First Team Proprietary Market Trends Software Delivers
Unprecedented Detail in Real Time

(January 4, 2005) — First Team Real Estate, the number one independent real estate company in California, has announced the launch of Market Trends — a sophisticated software program that generates highly detailed market views based on real-time data from all MLS sources. The company, known for its innovative use of technology to maximize service and results for its clients, developed the program to give its clients the advantage in a fast-paced market.

“Views furnished by Market Trends are light years beyond those of other real estate trend analysis software,” said First Team founder and CEO Cameron Merage. “While their data can be up to 45 days old, Market Trends snapshots are less than 12 hours old. Market Trends also generates a significantly broader range of criteria, price ranges and reports. In a shifting market, this instantaneous, finely tuned information gives our agents a tremendous advantage in educating their buyers and sellers and helping them make the right decision at the right point in time.”

Market Trends has the power to search all MLS data sources based on a broad and flexible range of factors, including city; zip code; property type (single family residence, condo, residential income property); and 21 price ranges. Agents can easily create custom searches involving multiple cities, property types, and/or price ranges, depending on their clients’ needs.

The program can produce an unprecedented number of critical reports, including Facts and Trends, Days on Market, Active Inventory, Sold Units, Active vs. Sold Units, List vs. Sell Price, Price Gap, Week Range and Month Range.

“Our goal has always been to give our agents state-of-the-art support in serving their clients successfully,” said Merage. “The far more accurate, current and detailed understanding of the marketplace provided by Market Trends will help them capitalize on their personal skills more effectively than ever before.”
